I have spent 3 years researching and analyzing network marketing companies to find out legitimate opportunities and downright bad ideas. I have also emerged as a leader in several home based business opportunities.

This article is going to look at a well known functional beverage company called MonaVie.

Is MonaVie a legitimate opportunity or just another get rich quick scheme?

MonaVie’s founder, chairman and CEO Dallin Larsen is a veteran of the network marketing and direct selling industry. He served as a director on the Direct Selling Association Board in Washington, DC. He also has experience with other nutritional companies.

The rest of the corporate team have solid business backgrounds including Maria Ramirez who was rated as the top financial forecaster by the Wall Street Journal.

The products that MonaVie produces all contain the Acai berry which has been researched extensively for its anti inflammatory and anti aging benefits.

The one thing that did impress me and set this company apart from others is the research on its product that is found on PubMed

This website is run by the US National Library of Medicine. Only solid and evidence based research is allowed to be published on this site. MonaVie has a research article posted which has received awards.

I have tried the products and they do taste great.

MonaVie uses direct selling to get their products to the public. They pay distributors in a binary compensation plan.

The distributors in this company that will make the big money are those who are willing to learn and implement internet marketing to attract prospects and customers. The only shortcoming of this company is if distributors use the old school MLM techniques instead of positioning themselves on the internet.

Is Wow Green a Scam?

I have spent the past 3 years analyzing home based businesses and educating people on internet marketing to build their network marketing opportunity.

Wow Green is a direct selling company that has recently emerged as a company producing safe all natural household cleaners. Many people have asked if Wow Green is a scam.

After researching the Wow Green company and it’s corporate team I can say that Wow Green is a legitimate home based business.

From the research I did, I found the following.

The founder and CEO Allie Mallad is a well known franchisee with operations in Little Caesars, Applebees, Baskin Robbins, Golden Corral Steakhouse, Bruegger’s Bagels, Jiffy Lube, Mobil Oil and Big O’ Tire. He also gave rise the the Gelato di Roma concept.

He was entrepreneur of the year in 1991 presented by Ernst and Young, Merrill Lynch and Inc. Magazine.

The president of Wow Green, Jordan Zimmerman, is the founder and chairman of Zimmerman Advertising, the 14th largest agency in the United States with published billings in excess of 2 billion dollars.

The COO, CFO and VP of operations all have solid backgrounds. Each having 30+ years experience in executive roles.

Wow Green has decided to use the network marketing industry to bring its products to market. They are relying on word of mouth advertising to promote their products.

The company has decided on a binary compensation plan which places a distributor in the business with the job of building two teams of either customers or other distributors.

I was able to get my hands on trials of the product and they seem to work pretty good. Some of the products are slightly more expensive than others but overall they seem to be comparable.

Wow Green is not a scam and is a solid company with their main launch set for September 2009 in Las Vegas.

Looking for a legitimate work at home business?

Many people ask me,

“Matt, I’m sick of the hype based work at home programs and
work at home opportunities. What is a legitimate work at home program that I can get involved in to truly make a part time income for myself and my family?”

In this article I’m not going to give you specific companies to look at,
rather, I’m going to give you the knowledge and tools so that you can look at every opportunity and determine if it is right for you.

Let me begin with the two P’s that I have found to be a critical aspect when selecting a work at home program or opportunity.

The first P is the product.

What product is the company promoting?

Is it a unique product that is in demand and that people are looking for?

How much competition is there for the product?

Let’s say a company is promoting vinyl records. There is very little competition but no one
is looking for records. Select a product that you believe in and have enthusiasm for.

The second P I recommend people look at is positioning.

Is the product here to stay?

How does the company and product match up in the industry?

Are they catching the beginning wave of a huge trend or are they catching the tail end of a trend that is slowly fading?

Once you find a product that you believe in, that meets a need and demand of people today and is
riding the wave of growth in terms of what people are looking for, it is important that you take a look
at the company.

Management Team
What is the background of the executives in the company?

Did they wake up last week and decide they would like to try their hand at a business?

The management teams background should be easy to find and very visible. If it is easier to find a needle in a haystack than it is to find the background of the management team, run the other way.

The company should be glad to show you the background of the corporate team.

Strong business background coupled with honesty, integrity and compassion is vital for a
successful work at home opportunity.

Compensation
How will you be compensated for your efforts?

Do you have to work like a dog to earn a few bucks or will you be compensated fairly based on your efforts?

Will you have to spend a small fortune each month to stay in business?

Is the compensation structure like reading directions in a different language?

Support
When you enter into an opportunity will you have any support?

Does the company throw you in the water and tell you to swim?

Having support can mean the difference between success and another failed work at home attempt.

It can be a daunting task to find a legitimate work at home program that can provide your family
with cash flow. Take your time in following this advice to find the right opportunity for you.

Recession Proof Your Future With Network Marketing

I heard it again. Those awful words coming out of another person’s mouth.

“I lost my job.”

Of course it was on a Friday afternoon when I heard this. Most people know that employers frequently lay off workers on a Friday afternoon. Maybe it’s so they have the weekend to reflect and think about what to do next.

I offered my empathy and told this person that if they needed anything to let me know.

It made me realize the importance of network marketing. A business that has no ceiling on income potential and can be the key to financial freedom.

In today’s uncertain economy I feel it’s important to shed some light on this industry and explain what it’s all about.

When a company has a product that they want to market to the public they can select different ways to accomplish this marketing.

One way is to hire a marketing department and pay for ads on TV, billboards, radio, internet, papers, magazines etc.

Another way is through direct sales or network marketing. In this model, the company pays people like you or I to introduce the products or opportunity to others.

The larger our business grows the larger the paycheck. Instead of paying for expensive ads and marketing employees, the company pays us. Our paycheck amount is in proportion to our efforts.

Let me say that again.

A network marketing company will pay you in proportion to your efforts. The more people you bring into your business the more you get paid.

Corporate America does not work like this. If this week you work 40 hours but last week to meet deadlines you worked 80 hours, you will still receive the same pay if you are on salary.

“But Matt, This sounds like a pyramid doesn’t it? The man/woman at the top makes all the money. “

Ahh, I knew you were going to ask that. Any job in corporate America is a pyramid.

Let me explain.

At the top is the CEO, under him are VP, then directors, then managers, then supervisors, then employees. Do you think the VP will ever make more than the CEO? Will the supervisors ever make more than the managers?

That is a pyramid.

In a legitimate network marketing company you are paid based on your results.

The person who sponsors you into the business may make less than you. You have the ability to far surpass your sponsor in terms of income earned.

This is not a pyramid this is being paid for your effort.

It is impossible to sit, do nothing and earn more than those below you. You must earn the rewards in network marketing and help those below you succeed as well.

If anyone tries to tell you that their network marketing company allows you to just sign up and make a ton of money, do me and yourself one HUGE favor.

RUN THE OTHER WAY AS FAST AS YOU CAN.

This is a big fat lie and the cause of stigma in network marketing.

Make no mistake about it, you can make 5, 6,7 and even 8 figures in network marketing but you have to work and you must have a sponsor who is engaged and willing to work with you.

Compensation Plans Explained

The world of Network marketing and compensation plans has a language all its own. It can be a little confusing when you join a company with the jargon that is used.

I’m going to help ease the confusion by explaining compensation plans and how they work.

The basic idea to keep in mind is that you are paid based on the amount of sales of your companies product, service etc. in your team that you build.
While this is the basic premise of the compensation plan there are several different ways a Network Marketing company can structure their pay plan.
Let’s take a look at each one individually.
Unilevel Compensation Plan
You sponsor people into your business and they are placed on your first level. The company has a set percentage that they will pay on the first level. It is usual around 20%, so you earn 20% of the orders on your first level.

People in your first level who sponsor people now builds your second level. You are then paid a lesser percentage for this second level usually around 10% . It continues in this fashion to a set number of levels deep. The usual depth is about 7 levels.

You can sponsor an unlimited number of people on your first level, so the width of your organization is limitless but the depth is set by the company.

One thing to consider with the unilevel pay plan is that everyone you sponsor is placed on your first level and every person is cross line from the others you sponsor. This basically means that if you sponsor “Bob” and “Jane” they will be next to eachother but will not benefit eachother in any way.

Here is an example I made for you. I only made it 3 levels deep but most companies pay up to 5-7 levels. In this scenario you can see how Bob and Jane are people you enrolled but they do not benefit from eachother.

Binary Compensation Plan
As the name implies this pay plan involves two legs or parts of your business. You are placed into a tree and you have a left side and a right side. The beauty of this plan is people above you may place their sponsored people below you which is called “spillover”.

Most companies call one leg your strong leg or long leg for the side that has the most distributors. They call your other leg the weak leg or short leg. You are usually paid on your weak or short leg and share your long or strong leg with your sponsor.

The difference in this plan compared to the unilevel plan is people you sponsor directly affect your other enrolled people.

In this scenario your weak or short leg has Bob and Jane. This is the leg you are building and your sponsor is continuing to place people on your right leg (long or strong leg).

In this case Jane’s efforts benefit Bob so he will do whatever he can to help Jane succeed even though he never met Jane until he joined your business.

This promotes team work for the business.

Australian Compensation Plan

I’m not here to tell you what to do, I’m only here to give you the facts, however, I would be very careful with this plan.

This Australian pay plan is sometimes called a 2 up or 3 up plan. This means that the first 2 (if it’s a 2 up plan) or 3 (if it’s a 3 up plan) people you sponsor are passed up to your sponsor and they get the commission. The next person that you sponsor in the business is when you start getting paid on the 2 or 3 people that they sponsor who are passed up to you.

This is a risky pay plan and one that does not benefit most people. Be very cautious with this type of plan. My feelings are if you make the effort to sponsor two people into your business you should be compensated.

Matrix Compensation Plan

A matrix plan usually has a number such as “3×7” matrix. The 3 indicates the width of your first level. The 7 indicates the depth of the business that you will be paid on. If you sponsor more than 3 people on the first level it is what’s called “spillover” so these people go somewhere in your downline which is different for each company.

Important point to remember
It is important that you understand in a network marketing company you will need to maintain a certain product purchase amount to receive commissions on the downline you build.
I also encourage you to not get bogged down with these pay plans. If you don’t have a proper business strategy to enroll people then you will not earn money no matter how good the pay plan is.
Don’t be fooled by companies telling you how great the compensation plan is. If you do not link up with a team who will help you build a downline you will not make money, period.

The compensation plan can be cutting edge with an amazing setup. The real key to success is finding a reputable company, product and upline who can coach you.
